It is no wonder that my weight has BALLOONED in the past couple of years. Yes, yes. . . I quit smoking & got married within a couple of months — & people say each of those on their own have a tendency to contribute to the addition of some of the poundage. . .BUT, even though I’ve, arguably, cut down quite a bit on the drinking, I’ve started baking & cooking A LOT more & I appreciate food more now.
It’s here! It’s here! The first day of November. The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I enjoy this month. If I had to choose a favorite, November would probably be it. (Thankful #1) Halloween is over. (Thankful #2) It is a month of birthdays. Two of my cousins, two of my best friends, AND my birthday falls in November — & everyone should be grateful for another year on this earth. Life is a gift. (Thankful #3)
Then, there is Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. (Thankful #4) It is a holiday filled with family (Thankful #5) & food (Thankful #6). Two of my most favorite things! And, perhaps one of the most obvious, it is a day to be thankful. . . to reflect on our blessings & to make them be known (Thankful #7). It is a simple, but meaningful holiday. I LOVE THAT.
We have all had those times when things just don’t feel right. You’re lethargic & closed off. Normal day-to-day occurrences are just mundane & it’s a chore to get out of the house. I’ve been there! (And, that’s putting it mildly!) Whether it’s just a rough patch or a full-blown symptom of depression (which goes through its own cruel cycles), there’s still something that can be done. . .
The handsome husband used to joke that it was because I finally got comfortable in our relationship. . . That this is the reason why I started gaining weight. He’s probably right. I do see a correlation there! Continue reading “That Voice in Your Head”→
